Making Easy Gold - Auction House Arbitrage

If you need to make some extra gold for your WoW toon and you don't have time for farming, camping the Auction House, making stuff to sell, then you're in luck. I want to introduce you to a technique used for thousands of years. It's as relevant today as it was during the reign of the Pharaohs and the time of Moses.

Arbitraging is the art of taking advantage of a price difference between two separate markets for the same item.

The World of Warcraft has several markets where you can arbitrage. The principle markets are the Auction Houses for the Horde and the Alliance. All of the Horde's AH's are connected as are all of the Alliance's. Neither side has access to the other's Auction Houses.

The Horde has connected Auction Houses in the following cities:

  • Orgrimmar
  • Undercity
  • Silvermoon City East
  • Silvermoon City West
  • Thunder Bluff

The Alliance has connected Auction Houses in the following cities:
  • Darnassus
  • Ironforge
  • Stormwind
  • The Exodar

There is a secondary Auction House Market run by the Goblins of the Steamwheedle Cartel with locations in the following cities:
  • Gadgetzan in Tanaris
  • Booty Bay in Stranglethorn Vale
  • Everlook in Winterspring

The third (3rd) market is the global network of vendors all across Azeroth from whom you can purchase important trade goods and supplies used to create the thousands of trade skill items learned with trade skill professions including:
  • Leathercrafting
  • Blacksmithing
  • Tailoring
  • Engineering
  • Alchemy
  • Jewelcrafting
  • Inscription
  • Cooking
  • First Aid

The opportunity to "Arbitrage" comes into play when you buy common, hi-demand, trade skill items from a local vendor and put them up for sale in your Auction House at any price the market will bear. Some examples include:

Stacks of these items will sell on all servers for 1 or 2 gold pieces. On Servers with high populations, they even sell for 3 or 4 gold a per stack. If you're the ONLY seller for a particular item, then the sky is the limit. You can experiment with listing several stacks of the same item at increasing prices. You will quickly figure out what the market will bear if you follow this process.

I have low level toons on many servers where I practice the art of arbitrage. All those toons have very low play-time and hundreds, if not thousands, of gold pieces.

Arbitraging is a great way to build up your toon's gold supply and fill your bank coffers with some easy cash. So, get started today. Before you log off your characters for the evening, pay a visit to your local general supply vendor or inn keeper and buy a few stacks of stuff and list it for sale in your Auction House.

Cheers!
